Emergency Rental Assistance Program
Shelters of Saratoga is providing application assistance to residents of Saratoga County for The New York State Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). The program provides significant economic relief to help low and moderate-income households at risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability by providing rental arrears, temporary rental assistance, and utility arrears’ assistance.

Affordable Apartments
Shelters of Saratoga manages 11 affordable apartment units in downtown Saratoga Springs. Qualified shelter guests receive priority placement as units become available. Residents receive ongoing support through counseling, service referrals, financial well-being, and education to enhance long-term housing.

Supportive Housing
(Set to open in 2023)

Shelters of Saratoga is slated to open 9 supportive apartment units in 2023. The New York State Office of Temporary Disability Assistance (OTDA) Homeless Housing Assistance Program (HHAP) is providing capital support for the renovation of the former Spa Motel on Ballston Avenue in Saratoga Springs.
Supportive housing is an effective approach to ending homelessness for high-need populations. The program targets individuals and families with chronic illnesses, disabilities, mental health issues, or substance use disorders who have experienced long-term or repeated homelessness. It provides long-term rental assistance and supportive services.
Program operations, rental assistance, and supportive services are funded by a 5-year contract with The New York State Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative.
