Director of Community Engagement
Reports to: Executive Director
Position Overview
The Director of Community Engagement plays a key role in advancing the organization’s fundraising strategy by managing donor engagement, events, and a growing major gifts pipeline. This is a full-time position created to strengthen fundraising and mission capacity. The Director of Community Engagement works closely with the Director of Development and leadership to cultivate, steward, and grow a diverse base of donors through community engagement, events, and relationship-building.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Events & Community Engagement
- Plan, coordinate, and execute a range of fundraising and community-facing events, including:
- Community events and in-house events
- One Fine Day and other signature events
- Tabling opportunities and community lunches
- Group tours and capital campaign–related events
- Represent the organization at community events to build visibility and cultivate donor relationships
- Track event outcomes and donor engagement metrics
Major Gifts & Donor Pipeline Development
- Build and manage a portfolio of mid-level and major gift prospects
- Develop a major gift pipeline through:
- Community participation and relationship-building
- Donor research and prospect identification
- Engagement with existing organizational constituents
- Support cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies in partnership with senior staff
Donor Segmentation & Relationship Management
- Manage and steward specific donor segments, including:
- Business donors
- Volunteers and volunteer-led supporters
- Tailor engagement and communication strategies based on donor interests and capacity
- Maintain accurate donor records and engagement history
Development Administration & Reporting
- Provide administrative support for development activities, including:
- Meeting preparation and follow-up
- Scheduling donor meetings and events
- Data entry, tracking, and reporting in the donor database
- Assist with fundraising reports and analysis to support strategic decision-making
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or related fields
- Experience with donor cultivation, events, and relationship management
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfort working with donor databases and reporting tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
- Valid New York State driver’s license and ability to travel locally on a frequent basis
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a mid-level or major gifts portfolio
- Familiarity with capital campaigns
- Strong community engagement or outreach background
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
